I was actually surprised how emotional this book made me. It’s got a lot going on, it isn’t just a thriller mystery.

A fantastic young adult novel. A murder/mystery with a twist. Four suspects, secrets galore, fractured relationships and unlikely friendships. A great read.

This book was so amazing! I picked it up and completed it that same day. Its a young adult mystery book, but I like to think of it as a mix between Pretty Little Liars and The Breakfast Club. Their are so many twists, turns, secrets, and surprises! It literally never has a dull moment. I would read again, and again after that. Totally recommend!!

Five students walk into detention but only four walk out. During this time five unlikely students, Copper the jock, Nate the criminal, Addy the princess, Bronwyn the brains and Simon the outcast get detention for having phones taken away that aren't really theirs. What happens next no one knows but now the four of them are suspects of murder and all their lives have forever been turned upside down. Will the truth ever come out, or just all their secrets?
This book was really enjoyable to read because you didn't know who the real murderer was until the very end, but it makes it out to be a couple of people. It was just interesting to see how this event has affected each of the four and how even though most of them have never talked before, they all work together to solve this crime and not once do they turn on one another, but stay strong the whole time. Rating 5 out 5 stars

One Of Us Is Lying is a very unique book that combines the charm of The Breakfast Club with the suspense of a murder mystery. The story constantly switches the point of view from the brain, the jock, the princess, and the criminal, which gives these characters personality (not the basket-case though, because he was the one that was supposedly killed), and it does not feel jarring when they switch from one character to another. (The brain character does seem to have more scenes than the others though, just a nitpick). The characters also feel fleshed out and not stereotyped, so I’m not reading something completely predictable from start to finish. With a 5 out of 5, I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who liked The Breakfast Club, as well as murder mysteries.

One of Us Is Lying is a YA mystery that will have you guessing which person is actually guilty until the very end! While I was reading this book I was switching between four or five possible outcomes for who the murderer (or murderers) were and I was reading it every chance I had because I was desperate to find out who it was! I went through all the suspects and the people I was suspicious of and none of them really seemed right and seemed like a satisfying decision. I did guess very early on who the guilty character did end up being but I still think it was a really good choice since it was much more interesting that the other routes it could have gone. This book was a great, quick read that I enjoyed even if it was a tad predictable at times. I think it’s a great YA mystery that isn’t gory or overly violent and focuses well on the law system, teenagers and public approval under the watchful lens of a camera.
