I like the actors and the director (Zemekis) so I thought I'd give this a try. It looks good and sort of sweeps you along, and has a few nice romantic moments and a tear-jerker ending. But over and over again as I was watching it, in the back of my mind I found myself asking ... "Is that really plausible?" ... or even... "Does that make sense?" After the movie ended, the more I thought about it, the more plot holes, implausibilities, and just plain stupidities I found with the plot. None of it really makes sense. So in that sense the script is really, really bad. So if that kind of thing bothers you, I recommend that you forget this film.

I loved the mystery of the plot as it builds up the the climax at the end of the story. The chemistry between the two seems to be Red HOT until Brad's character has to decide what he has to do to prove that his wife is not a spy for the other side.

His Marianne Beausejour could be an impostor and a spy for the other side. He goes to the front lines to discover that the real Marianne plays the piano, but his wife does not.

Great climax though.

Brad Pitt has finally taken a chance in opening up romantically, and then has to face the question: "Is my wife really a spy for the other side?" The Canary Islands do a bang-up job as the stand-in for French Morocco during WWII, with the Germans a bit broadly overdrawn as the bad guys. The true emotional pitch comes afterward, in England.

Pitt and Cotillard are gorgeous to look at but other than the climax, the film appears very low-keyed.
Our leading man and lady are like party ice sculptures: visually nice but cool to the touch.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis in 2016, this war-time thriller depicts the mission of a Canadian intelligence officer (Brad Pitt) and his complicated romance with a French Resistance collaborator (Marion Cotillard).
Pitt and Cotillard give excellent performances that feel naturalistic, not overacting in the tradition of melodrama in this situation.
The story looks old but smells new, and the drama appears thrilling, fascinating and enigmatic while keeping me wondering how it ends.
It is a well-crafted entertaining thriller.

I too liked this film and also thought that the acting was well done by the actress (Marion Cotillard). Brad was good and thought that there was chemistry between the two, which made me care for the couple trying to have a normal life working among WW II intelligence.

Loved it! I rarely watch a film in one sitting but I was too into it to stop. Brad still has sexy going for him.

Bias Alert: I have always loved Pitt and Marion Cotillard. Pitt is predictable and safe with his selections of spy/war movies and Cotillard is absolutely gorgeous and talented, so great performances anyways. The romance aspect and the magnificent cinematography all gave the feels that I was watching a classic. Having said that, I just hate how the female is always portrayed as one that is constantly caught between sentiment and logical reasoning. I can understand from Cotillard’s perspective and the very obvious ending makes sense, but I still hate how tragic the love story is made out to be. It was almost too perfect given the circumstances and you can feel doom looming around the corner. I suppose that is why the suspense felt so real, despite guessing what is real and unreal throughout the film.

Sexual Content: Modest lovemaking scenes.

Violence: War, assassinations, blackmail.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: It's a movie set in WWII partly during a bombing raid on London. Shootings. Grenade explosions. War-damaged people.

Sexual Content: A couple of sex scenes, brief nudity, and suggested sexual acts.

Violence: Plenty of killings by guns, mostly. Not gory, for the most part.
