From an impressive sisterhood of YA writers comes an edge-of-your-seat anthology of historical fiction and fantasy featuring a diverse array of daring heroines.
From pirate ships off the coast of the Carolinas to the peace, love, and protests of 1960s Chicago, take a thrill ride through history with American girls charting their own course. They are monsters and mediums, bodyguards and barkeeps, screenwriters and schoolteachers, heiresses and hobos. They're making their own way in often-hostile lands, using every weapon in their arsenals, facing down murderers and marriage proposals. And they all have a story to tell.

I enjoyed this book and the range of settings, characters, and 'voices' (different writers and styles) in this book. It was disappointing that all of the stories are set in the US even though at least one author was Canadian - why do some Americans think the only stories worth telling are theirs? Aside from that factor, I did enjoy the read and will look up the next book in this series.

This book is made up 15 short stories that are inspired by events and people throughout history. Some of the stories were more exciting than the others, but there was a few good ones among them. Still a good read for those who like historical fiction.
