Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions ; Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness. The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life.

First toys had feelings, then cars had feelings, & now feelings have feelings: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust to be exact. We journey into the minds of our characters to explore the reasons for their behaviours and reactions. The best example of this mental metaphor is demonstrated in the closing credits within the mind of a cat. Some people may object to the gender stereotypes in the film, but stereotypes don't exist because of this film, they generally mirror the broad general behaviour of society; hence, the perfect stereotypical cat in the closing credit sequence.

Inventive and entertaining animation about a little girl's emotions when her family leaves the Midwest for San Francisco. Recommended.

The movie "Inside Out" is one of the most understandable and relatable children's films to be released in recent years. The excellent use of color, character, and plot, allows children to easily follow what is going on and to be able to access the overall morals and themes. Sometimes it is difficult for children to fully understand what is going on inside their head, so having a movie that explains the feelings of sadness, joy, anger, and disgust is a great idea. As well, by being able to follow along with the twist and turns of the main character's life, children watching are able to develop crucial problem solving skills. Even though I am a teenager and the audience for this movie was not directed towards me, I still understand and appreciate it's important messages and I applaud the film for being able to simplify human feeling and thought so effortlessly.

Such a beautiful story. Very deep for a children's movie. There were so many moments sprinkled in that only adults would understand and I loved that. I might have to buy a copy of this movie for myself!

The story of Riley's emotions struggling with growing up is - in classic Pixar tradition - funny, thoughtful, and touching. The music is also beautiful.

I liked it. I am a 55 year old man and I haven't seen a Disney movie in decades.
I would say that it is classic Disney.

I was impressed by some of the animation, like the little girls hair. At times it looks real.
