This book is aimed mainly at the programmer. The information is highly technical and it's not the best introduction to Bitcoin. For an easier way to learn about Bitcoin try the book "Bitcoin for the Befuddled".

Very technical analysis of bitcoin. Detailed description of the encryption and protocol layers. This is a difficult read if you just want to read about bitcoin in general and how it is being used. Or just want some history of bitcoin.... there isnt much here.
I have to admit that I skimmed a lot of this one. It would take a long time read and understand everything this book describes. If you really want to use this book properly, you will probably want to own a copy as a reference guide.
Still, this is probably not technical enough if you want to write your own wallet, but gives you enough to get you looking in the right places.
