FBI agent Johnny Utah goes undercover to infiltrate a cache of Southern California surfers suspected of robbing banks. Utah, a former football player, is assigned to Los Angeles. There, four bank robbers, who wear rubber masks and call themselves Ex-Presidents, have executed a series of successful robberies which embarrassingly have the FBI stumped. Utah and his partner Pappas suspect that the robbers are surfers and hatch a plan for catching them.

Point Break is a guilty pleasure I've always enjoyed. It is fun, has a lot of action and a good role for Patrick Swayze. Kathryn Bigelow, the movie's director, went on to be the only woman so far to receive a Best Director Oscar (for The Hurt Locker). Watch for Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in a small role in Point Break. There was a 2015 remake I have no interest in seeing. Point Break is rated R for violence, language and brief nudity.
Really stupid and dated movie. Painful to watch the insipid acting, goofy love story, and implausible plot. This movie does not hold up well over time. Not recommended.
Highly entertaining story-telling. This film also captures the California surfing lifestyle. Considering the small budget, I would rate "Point Break" (the 1991 original film) at 5.0 stars. Just imagine what a talented director could do today with a big budget and computer-generated special effects.
It's hard to believe that Patrick Swayze is no longer with us.
It would be nice if you could remove "DVD" from the title, as this is confusing and now the second time I've received a movie in the "Blu-Ray" format.. I never request anything in Blu-Ray. Please stop the confusion! lol...M
This is a so bad its good type of film. If you are at all taking it seriously as a 'film' you are missing out. Katherine Bigelow's best film for sure (Hurt Locker was trying to be a real 'film' and totally sucked.) Watch this film cause you want to laugh and have fun.
Best Swayze and Reeves movie made. One of the best films of the early 90s. Not much to say other than this movie is totally awesome and Swayze's hair is the coolest ever. The planned remake will be a total bomb. What a stupid idea. They should just release the original again in theaters as digitally reformatted and converted to 3D. Why remake a perfect classic? A sequel in modern times okay but don't ruin the original by re-telling it in modern times.
simply beautiful
A few years ago, my friend ask me to play this movie on my HOMETHEATER. She said it's an action movie with a good story. After we finished watching this film, i went out and purchased it for my collection. I really liked this movie and enjoyed the characters and story. This movie dosen't depend on special visual effefcts but the cars, shootouts and some scenes of the ocean provide a nice sound. I give this movie 4 and a half stars. For action, story, and interesting characters. Franks& beans, whole wheat bread, and ice tea,
Just watched this movie again, and while on the surface it looks like a stereotypical action flick, and in some ways maybe it is, I was actually surprised how much I enjoyed it. I originally saw this movie in the 90s when it was newer. Now that it's had time to age, it feels like a classic, and kept me yearning for those good old days when action films weren't all about superheroes, redundant CGI usage and mindlessly drawn-out action scenes. They really don't make 'em like they used to. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a decent action flick.
