Add a CommentThis is a beautiful movie about a young girl discovering herself and love. You really feel for her as she seems to be drawn to older and more experienced people and often talks about how everyone is "so intelligent, and how she doesn't know what to talk to them about".
Yes - the sex scenes (lesbian and heterosexual) are VERY explicit and boarder on porn. I am not sure if they are totally necessary to that degree but I guess it did help explain the depth of her confusion and love for people.

NC-17 rating was created in 1990 to replace the X rating. NC-17 is far more explicit in every way to an R rating.

Blue has always been an intense color for me but it was made even more vibrant in this feature. I appreciate the passion and abandon with which it was produced. Though I am saddened by the tragedies (small and big) here, I have to applaud the craft, the artistry, and the depth of this film. Amazing depictions of the inner secrets of love in our community.

I like the this movie but it can be shorter. Its an universal love story that a heterosexual person can identify with. My main complain is also a common one: the sex scene is too much and too graphic. We got the idea and should not spend too much time on it. The X-ray portion is kind of distracting from the story. I have to push the fast forward button and I can't recommend this movie to a young adult, too bad . I love Lea Seydoux's acting she reminds me of Michele Pieffer, very convincing as a lesbian. You want this relationship to work and they are so sweet together but their background, aspiration, and expectation get in the way.
The graphic novel was better.

Good film, but its pulse is slow and long.
Excellent movie. Well scripted and very well acted. It is very slow, so that may be off-putting to some, but that pace rewards the patient viewer with a real sense of the lives of the main characters. It is also a sad movie, about disappointment and acceptance, but it is done so well that it feels real, which is more than can be said for most of today's fast-paced movies. WARNING: sex scenes - especially the lesbian ones - are extremely explicit and the first of them is quite long. Anyone who is offended by explicit sex and full nudity should be forewarned. In my opinion, the length and explicit nature of the sex scenes is essential in accurately conveying the emotional content of the movie.
Loved this movie. Finally a coming of age film about women loving women. I thought the sex scenes were so well done. The story isa timeless one about love and loss in the end . Beautifully shot and beautifully acted.
