Somewhat believable scenarios. Interesting range of characters. Nicely done moral subtleties.

Great picture, and valid also.
Makes you want to turn anarchist!

Well worth watching.

It is unfortunate that as the film progresses it focuses more on the characters and less on the issues. I was disappointed by the predictable and safe ending.

This may be a duplicate review. If so, I apologize. I found this movie to be targeted at ignorant kids and young adults who actually believe the politically correct enviro-excrement lies that they're being force-fed in our horrible public schools. It's offensive unless you're brainwashed into thinking that radical, illegal action is justified for a scientifically discredited "cause".

Decent story, well written and directed. Cast is very believable with the material. I don't need to see the lead's undercover lifestyle's effect on her private life, but other than that, it holds your interest.

I don't quite believe in this idealized band of eco-warriers, versus a private (and evil, natch) security firm. What if the eco-warriers were more personally flawed and dangerous, as they might be in real life, and they were taking on the FBI? The issues would appear more complex then. And yet, The East does a decent job of presenting the temptations of both the status quo and violent action, and even a third way that is the opposite of apathy. Brit Marling has written herself a starring role; I hope to see more of her soon. The East is one of the last films produced jointly by Ridley Scott and the late Tony Scott.

Awesome thriller and steller cast! Must watch!

Great script, acting cast, and filming. Suspenseful and creative with handling the earthy idealistic vs. the ethically forsaken. Many angles.

Confused and confusing. Point?

CEO: I don't understand.
IZZY: It's pretty
simple, really.
You make your living by poisoning this creek and other rivers and lakes.
You separate yourselves in gated
communities with golf courses...
...from the world
you're destroying. From the families
who cannot afford to move away
from this creek.
Or from the cancer their children are dying of.
You create for a living...
...toxic chemicals that will
outlive us all and feel nothing.
But tonight, you will feel something.
CEO: Be reasonable. You're
threatening our lives.
BENJI: You're the CEO of this company. How many lives
are you threatening?

Activist message:
We want all those
who are guilty
to experience the
terror of their crimes.
Because it shouldn't be so
easy to get away with murder.
Lie to us...
we'll lie to you.
Spy on us...
we'll spy on you.
Poison our habitat...
...we'll poison yours.
We are The East and this
is just the beginning.
