I saw this in a theater with my family when my singing daughter was 13. She had no idea what she was getting into and her back never touched the seat for the entire movie. She was lifted magically into that world. Years later she remembers it was like getting emotionally body slammed. And loving it.

I will always love this movie for that.

But yes. I really enjoyed it as well.

I fell in love with Eddie Redmayne. He is by far the best Marius ever!!! His voice is so dreamy and you feel the emotions that Mr. Pontemercy would be feeling! Truly incredible performance!!!!!!

Alain Boubil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's epic, sprawling (and quite sad) musical Les Miserables is adapted into this 2012 feature film. Telling the story of Jean Valjean, a man on the run from the local inspector Javert in early 19th century France who gets caught up in the June Rebellion, the movie attempts to fit a more-than-three-hour long stage show into a movie. With an all-star cast such as Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried and more, the movie does a fairly good job at it. The story has themes of love, rebellion, hope, grief, and plenty others that provides something for everyone. I am a bit biased because I've seen Les Miserables on Broadway, but this is an acceptable substitute.

Les Miserables is a very beautiful and tragic story. This intense film expertly captures the themes and emotions needed to be conveyed in this classic. The cast has been flawlessly chosen with big stars such as Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried, and more. The soundtrack is not only amazing but also extremely catchy and will remain stuck in your head for days. You can watch this movie numerous times and not get tired of it. I would rate this 4.5/5 stars, and would definitely recommend it to others.

I was very disappointed with this film adaptation of the musical, the 1997 version & the 10th anniversary concert are so much better.

I've seen this amazing play on stage 4 times, movie theater 1, PBS 1 and now this dvd. Every single time, I see something I've missed before. Such a story of grace, love, evil. The music is other-worldly beautiful. Thank you KCLS for providing us with this beautiful dvd. I may check it out again in a couple of years. OH, YES, make sure you see the end where the original cast comes out and the 4 longest-running Jean Valjeans who do a heart-stopping version of "Bring him home". Chilling.

A fabulous movie! Amazing music, and very talented acting. Especially from Anne Hathaway and Russel Crowe and Hugh Jackman. Very moving storyline, overall great film. Good for 15+ but mature 13 and 14 year olds can watch also.

Oh my biscuits. Can I find words enough to describe my endless wonder and delight of this movie? It was amazing. The singing was spectacular and the sets and acting dreamlike. Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, and Hugh Jackman, (huge ackman, ha ha) were amazing. Russel Crowe, well he did good. As did Anne Hathaway. This movie is fantastic.

Very good! Amazing actually. If you don't like singing than do not watch. If you enjoy singing, then darn, your in luck. Perfect performances from actors Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman!

A man who started as prisoner of the law for stealing a loaf of bread. Ends up as a hero, by saving his daughter"s boyfriend from the french revolution. This was an awesome movie and I highly reccomand it! I love the songs too.

Other: a lot of talk about prostitutes. Also innuendo, like a woman trying to distract a man while stealing from him. Once a naked man appears with a very clear view of his backside, and there is a lot of cleavage shown. a woman is attacked on the streets. Someone commits suicide (I won't give away who). quite violent with lots of blood as it is during the french revolution.
