Ivorie Walker discovers that someone has been stealing from her garden: a feral, dirty-faced boy who disappears into the hills, and something about him haunts Ivorie. She can't imagine what would make him desperate enough to steal and eat from her garden. Who is he? How did he come to live in the hills? Where did he come from? Can she save him? As Ivorie steps tries to uncover the answers, she unleashes a firestorm in the town, a community that would rather let secrets stay secret.

immerses you in a way of life that most of us dream of: rural America in a much simpler time...but is it simple? The ending is satisfying and the characters are your own neighbors by the time you finish the story. I heard it on disc and thoroughly loved the reading. I give it 4 stars. Anything over 3, for me, is well worth the read.

This is an easy reading, warm story that is very well narrated by the author. Good if you enjoy Southern fiction or if you are looking for a light enjoyable story.
