(*Movie quote*) - "Kill her, mommy! Kill her!"

The one thing that I find the most truly shocking about this 1980 "Slash'n'Gash" maniac-killer movie has nothing at all to do with its brutally high body-count - No way.

To me - The most appalling thing about the original "Friday the 13th" is that (filmed on a measly $550,000 budget) - It has since grossed well-over $60 million, worldwide.

And - On top of that incomprehensible horror - It has actually spawned 12 sequels (all pale, dismal copy-cats), a TV series, novels, comic books, video games, and, of course, tie-in merchandising, as well. (Anyone looking for an authentic "Jason" hockey mask?)

Time and again - Critics have argued that "Friday the 13th" (like others of its kind) prove that movie audiences can be just as indifferent and callous as are the vicious and murderous characters in the story.

This is the sort of film that seems to encourage viewers to actually laugh with glee at the hideously brutal Voorhees' murders.

Anyway - Watch this one for yourself and you be the judge in regards to what all the fuss was about 38 years ago at Crystal Lake.

Decent quality images for an older horror film.

This movie is terrible. There are about 15 minutes of plot in the 90-minute runtime, and the majority of the film is just the kids getting picked off one by one without doing anything to try and escape or fight back. One of the only decent portions was in the climax when the killer is finally revealed. Other than that, though, I'd give this movie a skip.

(And don't even get me started on the god-awful cinematography. They use the same shot leading up to every death! Ugh.)

As a horror movie fan I love and have this movie. As I was
watching this movie I was wondering who this deranged
maniac killer is. I was shocked
to find out it was Jason's mother Pamela Vorhees. I never saw that coming that
was awesome!
