Baker & Taylor
The eccentric preparations that Meg must endure as she returns home to assume the duties of being a bridesmaid at three different weddings in one summer suddenly become much more complicated when a visitor gets himself murdered in her small Virginia hometown. A first novel.

Blackwell North Amer
When Meg Langslow is roped into being a bridesmaid for the nuptials of her mother, her brother's fiancee, and her own best friend, she is apprehensive. Getting the brides to choose their outfits and those of their bridesmaids (and not change their minds three days later), trying to capture the principals long enough to work out details, and even finding peacocks to strut around the garden during the ceremony - these are things Meg can handle. She can brush off the unfortunate oaf who is smitten with her, and take philosophically her disappointment when she learns that the only eligible man in her small Virginia town (and a delightful hunk he is) is of questionable sexual preference. But even Meg is taken aback when the unpleasant former sister-in-law of Meg's soon-to-be stepfather disappears and is later found dead.

& Taylor

While trying to manage being the maid of honor in three weddings, Meg Langslow finds herself in the midst of a mystery when her soon-to-be stepfather's former sister-in-law is found dead

I've loved this series ever since I started reading it in the middle (We'll always have Parrots). This, like many first books doesn't have the same easy pace as later entries in the series, but is still a good primer for what is to come. You start to get a better feel for the series from the second book on. If you really want to know why you should ove Meg, just jump in to the middle like I accidentally did, and read We'll always have Parrots. You still be able to catch on to who everyone is, without loosing out on the storyline. One correction from the description of this book though, I don't think Meg's father was divorced in the first book, but he was lovably quirky.

The title caught my eye but I should have left it on the shelf.

I laughed my way through most of this book. I agree that it is a smart and entertaining read. Meg, a blacksmith artist takes the summer off to play the weddings of her best friend, her brother and her mom, and rents out her home while doing so.

The demands of the three brides, murders, accidents that don't seem accidental, and hijinks of some not so attractive bachelors in town all complicate Meg's life as does a seemingly gay guy in town to take over his mother's seamstress business which she is recovering from an accident. The author does a wonderful job of combining all the details in a delightful story. I hope that the sequel will be as entertaining!

I really enjoy this author. I laugh reading about the antics of this family and the encouragement they give her in getting the murder solved.

First in a cozy series about a lady blacksmith and her crazy family. The books are a lot of fun. Quick reads that will have you smiling, if not laughing out loud.

Easy-to -read, hard-to-put-down. This was an enjoyable read even though weddings in general are not my favorite topic, the eccentric characters were fun. I read it in one day.

First in light, fun mystery series. The mystery almost takes a back seat to the crazy family. The author has won several awards for funniest mystery.

I think I've read all the other books in this series, yet, somehow, I had missed this one! Reading it after the others, I enjoyed seeing the earlier versions of the characters that develop much more fully over the course of the series. Some of the book surprised me, as these earlier versions of Meg's parents, especially her mother, are different from the way I normally think of them. Andrews is a master at taking a bunch of eccentric characters and sticking them together with chaos and humor, solving a murder or two somewhere along the way. This may not be the best in the series, but it is a must read for anyone who enjoys her later books.

I stopped reading at pg-173,couldn't take the snail's pace anymore. Boring and I only liked/cared about two characters,Meg and Michael. I will try another in this series, but the first one just didn't interest me at all.

Murder with Peacocks is a smart, funny, and entertaining read. I enjoyed the assortment of eccentric characters. The story takes place over the course of the summer, where the lead female character, Meg Langslow, finds herself planning three weddings( her best friends, her soon to be sister in-laws,and her mothers) while trying to help solve a murder mystery and catch a killer, who could be anyone in the small town where Meg's family lives.

I’m not. If I ever get married, I shall elope. That has now become my prime requirement in a husband. Willingness to elope.

" Only three of them have tails," mother pointed out. " That's because only three of them are peacocks, Mother. The rest are peahens." " Well what do we need them for ? " Mother asked. "They don't add anything to the impression. They're not very attractive." " Maybe not to you, but apparently they are to the peacocks. If we didn't have them around, the peacocks would sulk and wouldn't spread their tails. You know how men are." Mother digested that in silence.
