It's about the music; not the movie quality! RIP Prince. This film has only gotten better with age, it's a classic to me.

I miss Prince, too; however I think it needs to be said that whoever produced this film was an amateur. the staging, the camera angles, the self-aware acting, it's terrible. the purple rain angle could have been covered by a royal treatment of the epic song itself, visually.

What can I say...Prince is a musical genius! The story is a little all-over-the-place, but I get it. The music was the reason I finished the movie to the end. I don't remember much from watching it as a young adult, but it is a movie you should watch. If you watched the Dave Chappelle skit of Prince playing basketball, it'll be funny to hear some of those one-liners.

Purple Rain is a time capsule, and the performances at First Ave are phenomenal. The acting and dialogue are sometimes campy, but for me that just adds to the fun. The movie is rated R for sexuality, some nudity, language and some violent content.

While the movie itself is pretty silly, the music is excellent.

"This film has been modified from its original version. It has been formatted to fit your screen."

Only true if you have an old television.

I've been wanting to see this movie since it first came out in theaters in 1984, and I finally had the opportunity to see it in its entirety after all these years. Prince and the Revolution's performances were powerful and awesome, especially Purple Rain/I Would Die for U and made Morris Day and The Time look cheesy. I will say that the domestic violence scenes may be overwhelming for some but is designed to give a better picture of why "The Kid" presents himself and acts the way that he does. The reason why I give it four stars is that the dialogue was a bit on the disconnected side in a couple of scenes.
